So if I have brown eyes and my husband has blue eyes what are the chances our baby boy will have blue eyes?
I know the brown eye gene is dominate, but my brother has brown eyes and his wife has green eyes and both their boys have blue eyes….
I really want a child with blue eyes!!
Lots of people with blue or green eyes in his family (his dad is the only one with brown, unless you want to go to great grandparents) my mother and her family have blue eyes…. looking good so far!
Forget your brother. The only thing that matters in this equation is YOUR genetic makeup.
To answer your question:
The chances are either “Zero” or “50/50″. You see, your husband must have two genes for blue eyes so he can only pass on a blue gene. You, on the other hand, are the wild card. Unless your genetic material has been determined to have a blue gene we simply don’t know whether you are carrying one or not. If you are carrying a blue gene then the chances are “50/50″ that you will pass it on and your child will have blue eyes. If you aren’t carrying a blue gene then you can’t pass it on and the chances of your child having blue eyes is “Zero”.
