Hidden , derelict and secret places in london?

Ok for my a-level photography project i want to find hidden , secret and derelict places in London . I love old churches and victorian places . I love things covered in ivy and stained windows and wrought iron fences . I also like abandoned places either old houses or warehouses . Any secret parks or sanctuarys will do too . Anyone know of any places ?

There are soooo many places like that in London!
Someone previously mentioned Highgate Cemetary, that is definately on my list, you can take a free tour of the older parts of the cemetary and for a small fee- £1.50 I think- you can take photos… The Avenue of the Dead is truly breathtaking; it is an avenue of Victorian mausoleums, all covered in tendrils of ivy, and at it’s centre is a round mausoleum with a huge tree growing on the top of it! Simply stunning. There are also so many old gravestones and statues that are slowly being reclaimed by nature that make great subjects too.

You could also try around the warehouses on the Thames, near the Gherkin I think; -But wander along the Thames and you’ll find loads of places- Although most of these have now been cleaned up and turned into expensive apartments, the exteriors of the warehouses remain intact, including the old windows and doors, in the evening these always look very beautiful.

You could always take a London Walk for inspiration too. There are loads to choose from, all with different themes, such as ‘Jack the Ripper’s London’, ‘Smugglers London’ etc. The idea behind them is to take you around the capital and show the history behind London’s secret places. I did one where you went through a hidden tunnel that stretched from a pub, to a cave (yes a cave in London!).
